For those of you that read our previous news story about Loretta’s shocking, upcoming storyline – it may now be scrapped!
Based on a true story of a mum who lost her child; the mum has come forward and expressed her anger at the Channel 4 soap for using it.
She says “I’m demanding an urgent meeting with the producers of Hollyoaks over this. It seems they have already recorded these episodes so they think they have got away with it. But I want to look them in the eye and hear them explain how they can justify it.”
Could Hollyoaks lose this storyline? Do you think that Hollyoaks should even do this storyline? Head over to the forums and let your voice be heard.

I think they should be able to do it, as most writers get idea’s for storyline from real life stories. Also, as Loretta’s very forgiving, saying people change, and people deserve a 2nd chance, it suits a dramatic storyline to fit her reasons for behaving like this.
I am really looking forward to this storyline, I don’t think it should be scrapped just because of a complaint. I know it may be upsetting for the person complaining but if it’s that upsetting to her she shouldn’t watch the show or read about it. Soaps get most of their stories from what goes on in the world. It makes the viewers much more aware of what is happening. Please keep the storyline!!
“just because of a complaint”
Are you serious? Mrs Fergus – Jamie Bulger’s mother – had her son taken away by two pre-teens, they left him to die by a canal dropped him on his head twice, then decided to take him further, covering his head with his hood to disguise the wound. Led him for over 2 miles through the city, went to the railway, beat him with bricks and an iron bar, kicked him in the face and left him for dead and lay him across a railway track.
4 boys found his body days later – both parts of it. Yes, a train had severed him in two.
Full accout (graphic account not for sensitive disposition- you have been warned)

So of all people, the mother of this child, who knows this full account, who has seen her child’s killers released in 2001 to live new lives with new identities, I think she has the right to complain, don’t you?
I understand that Hollyoaks deals with a lot of sensitive issues in – what I believe to be – an effective way, but I do not think that usng this as a story line is necessary.
On top of this, I just dont think that Melissa Walton has the acting ability to pull off such a sensitive story. So far we have only seen her huff and puff and frown over things – a more emotionally adept actress such as Carley Stenson or Jessica Fox would be ideal – but we have “known” them since they have been school age.
I love Hollyoaks, but I do not want this story to go ahead

They have done an episode like this before on Casualty. A girl was in the hospital who had her identity changed because she had killed a child when she was younger and they never stopped that. The only thing with that is it was only in one episode i suppose but the one in hollyoaks will drag out longer so i definately understand where the mum is coming from.
Hmm, it would be such an interesting story, but i really do think it will shock many many viewers
to b honest complainin about a story line like tht is understandable but then ppl watchin the show actually act on things like tht for example sarah dyin evry1 was like tears and sympathy and its really only a tv show let them test their ability 2 such sensitive story lines
AGREED
Do you not think that working WITH Jamie Bulger’s mum might have been a good place to start though?
I know this is only a TV show – but it is strongly echoing soeone’s life.
She has to live with this every single day, surely for the sake of a good story, trawling up things like this is needless?
I feel like this storyline would have been good, but at the same time bad… Primarily as it can be hurtful and bring back many damaging and painful memories for people… At the same time it would be good as it would provide information on this type of case…
Having storylines based on real life cases can be good and bad as i z… But the whole hannah with anorexia is tuff for my family as my cuzin is currently suffering with it and like hannah she has also been sectioned… Although Hollyoaks has helped us understand the illness more and that is one thing i am so greatful for..
It is always interesting to see what storylines will be done next but i think the opportunity to have a storyline based on real life and a traumatic and horrible event would have been a major eye opener… For those who have lost and those who have suffered..
It is not 2 be nosey and have a good storyline but to help educate people and help them understand.. So i believe
I don’t see why they should axe it.
Loads of things have happened on the show that have happened in real life.
If my friend gets shot then perhaps they shouldn’t be allowed to show calvin death because it will “upset me”
If you don’t like it, then don’t watch it. It’s simple. Don’t make a big deal out of it and ruin it for others.
