Ricky heartbroken since split with Carley
The departing ‘Hollyoaks’ actor – who split with co-star Carley Stenson in November last year after two years– said he hasn’t been dating since, as he is still not over the split from his former co-star.
Speaking at the National Television Awards (NTAs) last night (20.01.10) he said: “Ricky’s not dating, because Ricky’s still got a broken heart.
“Everybody knows Ricky has a broken heart. When you come out of a relationship like I was, then it takes some time, I’m not involved with anyone.”
At the time of the split, Ricky was rumoured to be romantically involved with his ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ co-star Natalie Lowe, a claim he has since denied.
Having starred in the reality show as well as ‘Hollyoaks’, Ricky joked that it doubled his chances of winning an award.
He added: “I’ve got my family and I’ve got my adopted family from ‘Strictly’ so I’m here for both. Double the chance of winning, so fingers crossed we’ll do well.”
Ricky – whose on-screen death has already been shown in ‘Hollyoaks’ in a special flash forward episode – also confirmed he will head to the US to pursue his acting career when he leaves in May.
He added: “When you’re coming out of a job it’s the unknown and you always want to try and better yourself and be the best you can be, I want to chase my dreams, my dreams are in America.
“If I fail I fail, unlucky, but at least I’ve tried and I’ll come back and we’ll see what happens over here.”
