Lily Allen vs. Jennifer Metcalfe

TODAY in London, music supremo Lily Allen, has announced her plans to steer away from music and launch her own fashion boutique.

All sounds well and exciting until we realised that this fashion store of Allen’s is more specifically going to be a ‘dress hire’ shop – identical to the idea belonging to the Hollyoaks babes!

Earlier this year we revealed how Jennifer Metcalfe, (with the help of fellow ‘Oaks actresses Claire Cooper and Leah Hackett) were about to launch their venture, The Closet.

The Closet will be a high-end dress hire boutique which allows Joe Public to rent out dresses worn by celebrities. A fabulous idea for women who want to wear something show-stopping for that special occasion (or if they desperately need to pull!)

But now it seems Lily Allen wants her own version in London and is pulling all the stops to make hers the Number 1! OMG!

Allen has named her upcoming boutique as Lucy in Disguise and she intends to formally launch it at this year’s Vintage at Goodwood festival in August.

Oh dear! So this really is a case of North vs. South. Or even, Lily vs. Jennifer?

Are the Hollyoaks babes going to take a direct blow as a result of this? Were any of you lot planning on picking out your fave dress at The Closet and now swayed to Lily’s? What do we think of the whole ‘Dress Hire’ culture anyhow – does it still seem a little out of touch in these ‘tough times’?

Well we’re just going to say this now – we’ll firmly stick by our girls and support The Closet!

The 26-year-old actress – who plays feisty Mercedes Fisher in the Chester-based soap – admits her character would never be able to stay faithful to husband Malachy because she doesn’t have it in her.

Talking about Mercedes’ affair with her estranged brother-in-law Calvin Valentine, Jennifer said: “I don’t condone anyone cheating but it’s what Mercedes is all about. She’s not the marrying kind and she’s not the type to settle with just one person no matter how much she loves Malachy.”

Jennifer also says she is enjoying playing Mercedes now she’s back to her bad girl roots as it’s much more fun.

Speaking at The Clothes Show Live at Birmingham’s NEC Arena, Jennifer told HollyoaksOMG.com: “I’m having lots of fun playing that side to Mercedes again, it’s really enjoyable. I wish she wasn’t cheating with Calvin, as he used to be married to Carmel, but it makes it a lot more interesting for me as an actress.”

Oh dear, oh dear – hope nobody’s disappointed out there!

Ricky Whittle has admitted that he finds it embarrassing to film raunchy scenes in Hollyoaks.

Ricky who plays Calvin Valentine was talking about his latest scenes that are due to appear on screen shortly, where he embarks on an affair with Carmel’s sister, Mercedes McQueen.

He said raunchy scenes are “actually quite embarrassing” to film, adding: “You’re making out with a friend and work colleague in front of 30 people. The director says ‘kiss her neck. No. Rub your hand down her thigh.’ You say ‘I know how to do this. This is my bit – I can do this bit. I don’t need you telling me what to do.’”

He went on: “It’s embarrassing so you try and to block everything out and focus on what you’re doing but it’s fun. It’s what I’m paid to do.”

Jennifer Metcalfe has allegedly broken up with her short term DJ boyfriend.

Jen who plays Hollyoaks loud mouth, Mercedes McQueen, was going out with DJ Will Rogers for 3 months.

The Hollyoaks star told her Liverpudlian partner that she was just not ready to settle down.

A source told the Daily Star Sunday: “Jennifer is in the prime of her life and the last thing she wants to do is settle down. Will wanted them to move in together, get married and was even talking about them having kids.

“Jennifer wants that eventually but while her career is going so well it’s a long way off for her. She thinks she’s far too young to be thinking about things like that.”

OK, ok fair enough – we totally understand Jennifer. But we do think this Will sounds like a man from heaven if his intentions are so clean that he just wants to settle down and have kids. Oh, but wait a minute! He’s only just gone and done the dirty on her:

DJ Will Rogers has now sold his story to a tabloid newspaper how the 26-year-old beauty left his battery drained after he struggled to keep her engine purring.

“Jennifer likes to do it all night long. Sex is very important to her and she is a girl who knows what she wants” News of the World quoted Will as saying.

“You hear about couples making love 10 times a night and you think they are exaggerating – but in Jennifer’s case it was true. She was totally wild and left me worn out.

“I’m a fit lad who goes running and works out at the gym – but I needed every ounce of that stamina to keep up,” he added.

Oh dear… maybe Jennifer just saved herself a lot of hassle ditching this guy? What do’ya reckon?

Jennifer Metcalfe will never give up her party girl lifestyle to be slim.

The ‘Hollyoaks‘ actress – who plays mouthy barmaid Mercedes McQueen in the Channel 4 soap – dines out with friends most days and doesn’t care if it means she puts on weight.

She said: “I’m really bad. I eat out about six times a week. But I always try to pick a healthy option.

“At the moment my body’s not the best it could be, but I love socialising and if it means being a size bigger – so be it!”

Instead, the 27-year-old beauty believes it is important to dress for your shape.

She said: “Basically I think it’s important to wear clothes that fit your size and to dress to complement your shape. If you’re a size 12 don’t go out in size zero dresses! I’m different sizes all over, maybe six on top, ten on the bottom, all different. But I always try to eat healthily.”

In the next couple of weeks things aren’t looking well for Mercedes. Malachy and Mercedes are about to celebrate their first wedding anniversary. After kissing Calvin not long before, Mercedes feels guility, but can she tell Malachy the truth before he catches on to the affair?

But to make matters worse,? Mercedes goes to have a check up to see if she has HIV. After getting a call from the hospital she thinks the worse and runs back into the arms of? Calvin Valentine for comfort. Has Mercedes really got HIV? What will this mean for the villiage bike?

According to Now Magazine, Gemma Merna plans to have her onscreen family (the McQueens) as her bridesmaids at her real life wedding!

The actress, who plays Carmel McQueen n the Channel 4 soap, has been engaged to property developer Ian Minton since 2007.

Although they’re yet to set a date, Gemma wants her on-screen family to be part of the nuptials.

She went on to add: “The whole cast are really, really close but obviously [I'm closest to] Jennifer Metcalfe, Nicole Barber-Lane and Claire Cooper.’ ‘They’re all going to be bridesmaids at my wedding.’

OMG what an event! We can see it now… all the McQueens scrapping over the finger buffet while Gemma’s trying present her speech! (Only kidding!!)

But it sure will be one hell of a beautiful wedding!
